What is SE7EN?
SE7EN encourages social and environmental volunteering around the world. We list free and low-cost volunteering opportunities world-wide that have social and / or environmental aims. We also list volunteers with time and skills to offer. Volunteers and hosts can make direct contact with each other to arrange a volunteering stay.
We intend to be much more, however. Through forums, wikis, discussion groups and feedback mechanisms, we will be encouraging the growth of a community of users around the subjects of volunteering, environmental sustainability and social justice.
How does it work?
As a member of SE7EN, you will be able to search for and contact other members. You can manage your own profile, see other people's profiles and make contact with them, just like on other 'social networking' or 'online community' websites. But this is not just self-advertisement – it's a means of having a positive impact on the world and on society.
What do I get for my membership fee?
For volunteers, members can browse our list of hundreds of volunteering opportunities and contact the host projects through our messaging system. It costs €10 to have membership for one year.
You also have an online profile so host projects can find you and contact you.
Hosts have full access to the website with no charge.
Why does it cost money for volunteer membership?
This small charge allows us to pay for professional administration, ensuring members get real service. Most importantly, it ensures that we can keep the information on the website up-to-date.
You can find other websites listing volunteer opportunities without charging - but you'll often find the places they list are no longer contactable or no longer exist, because the information is not updated.
The fact that you have paid us for membership - although only a few Euros - entitles you to expect high quality information and a proper service. And it entitles you to complain if you think we're failing you! :o)
How does a member use the website?
If you're a registered member (either a host project or a volunteer), login to the website and navigate to the page 'How to use this website'. It gives detailed explanations of how to manage your profile, change your password, search for and contact other members etc.
If your question is not answered here:
Contact us through the link on the menu bar above.
Or, if you're already a member, contact us through the priority members' email address – this is listed on your welcome email.
Unlike many online organisations, we are committed to giving real human service!
Your contact will receive a timely and individual response. This is one of the things that makes SE7EN different from other networking websites.
